Battle In The Orchard, University Place’s Annual Battle of the Bands is quickly approaching! The mission of this event is to promote a love of music within the community, especially teenagers. To cultivate the younger bands necessary for a thriving local music scene, to provide a creative and safe outlet for teenagers to express themselves, and to encourage the youth of University Place to become more involved with community activities such as the Free Summer Concert Series.
This contest is open to everyone between the ages of 13-20. Bands will be divided into two different age categories: Junior High Students(composed of participants in grades 8 and 9) and Senior High Students(composed of participants in grades 10, 11, and 12).
Auditions will be held next week on Friday, June 17th and Saturday, June 18th at City Hall. From this Initial Talent Round, 3 bands from each age category(6 total) will be selected to move onto the Final Round where they will perform in front of the entire community at the Curran Apple Orchard Park in University Place as part of the Free Summer Concert Series on Thursday, June 30th from 6:30pm to 8:00pm. This event is completely free and open to the public.
