Clover Park School District is seeking bids for general contractors for construction of a new Hudtloff Middle School and associated fields, tennis courts and demolition of the existing facility. The project has multiple phases and work will be done while the current school remains occupied. The project is a state funded project through the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction. Students are scheduled to occupy the new school in Spring 2013; site and field work will be completed in December 2013.
A mandatory pre-bid walk through will be held Thursday, June 16 at the project site (8102 Phillips Road SW, in Lakewood, Wash.). All companies intending to bid as a prime contractor are required to attend and identify themselves and the company on a sign-in sheet.
Sealed bids, including attachments, are due by 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 12 at the district’s purchasing office, Student Services Center, 10903 Gravelly Lake Drive SW in Lakewood, Wash. A public notice will be published in the June 6 issue of the Daily Journal of Commerce.
The new Hudtloff Middle School will serve up to nearly 800 students in grades 6-8. The new facility is a 100,000 square foot, two story school. The new building will be constructed between the existing school and the west field and the north property line. The site and building concept creates opportunities for community use while establishing a quiet academic zone. The site will be accessed through two separate locations, one for buses and the other for parent drop-offs. The buses will access the site from the south, near Custer Elementary.
Integrus Architecture is the architect and Aeda Construction Management will serve as the owner representative. Clover Park School District is the project owner.
Construction of a new Hudtloff Middle School is part of a voter-approved, $92 million school construction bond proposition in February 2010. In addition to the Hudtloff Middle School project, the district will build a new:
- Elementary school for the consolidated Oakwood and Southgate Elementary Schools; and
- Harrison Preparatory School.
Both projects will be located on property adjacent to Clover Park Technical College (CPTC) in Lakewood.
