The Milroy Bridge over the Puyallup River will close on Tuesday, May 31 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to allow crews to perform guardrail repairs and a detailed structural inspection. The bridge will be closed to all traffic during this time. Motorists are advised to use alternative routes and allow extra time to reach their destinations.
The inspection work will be performed by crews from Washington State Department of Transportation and Pierce County Public Works and Utilities. The work is performed every other year as part of Pierce County’s bridge inspection program that ensures the safety of travelers and the longevity of the county’s transportation structures. Maintenance crews will also be completing some concrete deck repairs.
The Milroy Bridge is a steel truss bridge that connects state Route 167 (River Road East) and North Levee Road East at 66th Avenue East. The bridge was constructed in 1931 and carries approximately 11,000 vehicles a day.
