Tana Pritchard, a senior from Clover Park High School, was named Back of the Year by the Tacoma-Pierce County chapter of the National Football Foundation & Hall of Fame during their 35th Annual Scholar Athlete Banquet May 1 at Curtis High School. John Funk, a senior from Lakes High School, was a finalist for the Lineman of the Year and Kyle Gallagher, also from Lakes, was a finalist for Back of the Year.
Jon Kitna, a Lincoln High School graduate and 14-year NFL quarterback, was the keynote speaker. Players from Pierce County teams were nominated by their coaches and rated on a variety of categories, such as varsity letters won, participation in student government, grades and Advanced Placement/International Baccalaureate courses taken.
