Ward named principal Anderson Island Elementary

May 10, 2011 By Ben Sclair

By John Cohen, Director of District Communications

Dr. Ward has been principal of Cherrydale Primary School since 1997.  For the 2011-2012 school year she will assume the role of principal at Anderson Island Elementary. “I look forward to getting to know the Anderson Island students and the community at large,” said Deva Ward.

Before coming to Steilacoom Historical School District #1, she spent 16 years as a teacher in grades kindergarten through 6th grade and 6 years in the field of higher education.  Dr. Ward has served as the Coordinator of the Early Childhood Education Program for Olympic College and received her PhD in Human Development from Walden University and her Master’s in Education from Idaho State University.

Dr. Ward’s wealth of knowledge and experience in elementary education is extensive and she brings a great deal of enthusiasm and commitment to her new Anderson Island Elementary school.
