Lakewood Rotary‘s Teacher of the Month from the Clover Park School District was recognized at the club’s April 29th meeting. Rotarian Robert Peterson presented the award to Mrs. Sandy Calahan, of Idlewild Elementary. Her principal, Jim Pfeiffer, wrote of Mrs Calahan that “her class can never question her care, concern and belief in students. Mrs. Calahan teaches both the head and the heart of her students. Having worked with hundreds of teachers, I can say that Sandy Calahan is one of the most caring teachers I have ever met.” He further wrote that “her passion for her work, her advocacy for students, the learning culture she creates, the high standards, her ability to motivate and the fact that she is a joy to work with make her an outstanding recipient of this honor.” After receiving the award from Peterson, Mrs. Calahan reported, “I definitely got an A on my report card today!” Congratulations to a teacher truly deserving of the admiration of the Lakewood Rotary Club, and also of the community as a whole.
