The recent Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure Bake Sale at Bridgeport Place raised $761.75 in five hours. Leslie Jo Thompson is an officially registered walker and fundraiser this year. She did the lion’s share of the baking for the Bake Sale, but other team members at Bridgeport Place also contributed baked goods – everything from cupcakes to muffins and more. Professional cake decorator Crystle Rivera created and donated a custom cake “Happy Spring”, which went for $50. Bridgeport Place has several additional fundraisers in the works for the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. May 18 the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours will include a Silent Auction. The next event is the Junk in Your Trunk sale with the University Place Senior Center on May 21 as co-beneficiary of proceeds. Next is a Spaghetti Dinner and more to come. Thompson’s goal is to raise $5,000 or more prior to the 3-Day for the Cure walk on September 16, 2011. To contribute online to the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure, visit Leslie Jo Thompson’s personal donation page.
