Men’s Gospel Singers at Central Lutheran April 30

April 27, 2011 By Ben Sclair

By Paul Wessel, Performance VP

The Peninsula Men’s Gospel Singers will present a concert of sacred music at Central Lutheran Church, 409 Tacoma Ave. N, Tacoma, WA at 7 PM on Saturday, April 30. The Gospel Singers, from the North Olympic Peninsula, are in their tenth year under the direction of Michael Rivers. It is an ecumenical group of 18 men drawn from ten different congregations and seven different denominations. Their purpose statement, “Proclaiming the amazing love and grace of God through music and testimony”, is carried out in concerts at nursing homes, senior centers, Clallam Bay prison and numerous church concerts every year. Each year also includes a large spring concert at the Port Angeles High School auditorium which drew an audience of 876 on March 26. In the spring the group takes a short trip off the peninsula and this year will present concerts in Shelton and Tacoma. They last appeared in Tacoma three years ago at St. Marks by the Narrows. Those attending the concert may make a donation to support the work of the Gospel Singers.
