On Saturday April 30th 2011, Comcast will once again help homeless and low-income families at Network’s Tacoma’s 32 housing units. This includes our 15-united low-income housing complex on Chicago Avenue in Lakewood. Comcast employees will be doing:
- Landscaping/Beautification of grounds including mowing lawn and fertilizing, weeding, pruning bushes, garbage cleanup, reseeding dead grass patches, other miscellaneous jobs as needed (4-6 Hours/6-8 People)
- Repainting parking strips/numbering parking spots/repainting parking covering (4 hours/4 people)
- Exterior cleaning of windows/hallways/garbage cleanup and haul-away (covered by the above volunteers)
- Interior remodel of apartment unit. Including removal of carpet and pad and repainting interior walls (All Day/4-8 people)
Throughout Tacoma and Lakewood, more than 100 volunteers who are based at Comcast’s Fife call center will show up to landscape, paint, build a community garden, clean, share in a meal and in many ways just be good neighbors. Workers will be at four different locations including the one in Lakewood and three in Tacoma. Comcast has helped this way in the past and has helped Tacoma become a brighter city. This is their 10th year of Comcast Cares Days. You can learn more about their work in Washington this year at wacomcast.com/2011/04/07/were-excited-12-projects-throughout-washington-highlight-10th-annual-comcast-cares-day/
Network Tacoma is a local non-profit housing homeless and low-income families for the past twenty years.
