Would you and your family be ready if a disaster were to strike tomorrow? West Pierce Fire & Rescue, Lakewood Police Department, Lakewood YMCA and the Lakewood Lowe’s will be hosting the fifth annual “Disaster Preparedness Day” on April 30, 2011.  The event will take place at the Lakewood Lowe’s located at 100th & Lakewood Drive SW from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Come and join us for a day of learning how to take care of your family in a disaster!  Some highlights of Disaster Preparedness Day:

  • Learn how to assemble a disaster kit
  • Learn about our own Community Emergency Response Team
  • American Red Cross will provide disaster preparedness education
  • Pierce County Department of Emergency Management will be providing educational materials
  • There will free raffle for disaster preparedness items
  • Kids activities presented by Lowe’s and the YMCA.

The first 100 families will receive some supplies to start a disaster kit of their own.

Come and join us for Disaster Preparedness Day!  If you have questions or for more information please contact Colleen Adler at 983-4564.
