Lakes junior gets taste of state politics as House page

April 21, 2011 By Ben Sclair

By Jayme Taylor, Communication Manager

Leslie Espinoza, a junior from Lakes High School, recently served as a page for Rep. Bruce Chandler in Olympia.

Espinoza, daughter of Joel and Sonia Espinoza, attended a daily page school to learn about the legislative process. As part of her duties, she distributed documents and notes to lawmakers and staff on the House floor, as well as around the Capitol campus.

“I really enjoyed being on the House floor and learning about the legislative process,” said Espinoza. “I wasn’t very interested in politics before my experience, but it was very interesting to learn how bills become laws and to see the representatives in caucus.”
