Every year the volunteer staff at the McChord Retiree Activities Office hosts a dinner for local military retirees. The event originated in 1979 as a formal dinner known as a Dining Out which has it’s roots in centuries of military tradition. This year we are dispensing with the formal procedures and dress of the Dining Out and instead are holding a less formal dinner where the emphasis will be on fellowship and celebrating our military past.
Military retirees of all Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard), active duty military and their family and friends are invited to attend. It begins with cocktails at 6:30 pm on the 6th of May and is held at the McChord Field Club. Dress is coat and tie/office attire. Military and military retirees are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
Our special guests will be the Friends of Willie and Joe, the only WWII U.S. living history group officially sponsored by Bill Mauldin. They will be wearing WWII military uniforms and discussing a variety of military memorabilia, including an entire display dedicated to women’s military contributions. They will also have two WWII-era vehicles on display at the Club.
The meal will be a choice of Prime Rib Au Jus at $22.95 per person ($20.95 for club members) or Fillet of Salmon at $20.95 per person ($18.95 for club members). Reservation forms are available from the Retiree Activities Office (253-982-3214) or at website. Reservations must be made with the McChord Club no later than 2 May 2011.
