TACOMA, Wash. – Bates Technical College will open its doors to prospective students at the annual Open House, Tuesday, April 19, 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m., at the college’s South Campus, 2201 S. 78th St., in Tacoma.

At the Open House, visitors can tour the campus, talk with financial aid experts, learn about scholarships and grants, worker retraining, Running Start and Technical High School and more.

Attendees will also have an opportunity to participate in a variety of activities to learn more about a specific job field. Prospective students can perform an experiment with students in the biotechnology lab technician program, star in their own TV commercial to learn about the broadcasting and video production program, or watch a fire service training drill.

The annual event showcases Bates’ career education programs and provides high school and adult students with information about programs and services that may assist them as they choose a career training path.

From hearing aid technology to dental assisting and audio/sound technology, Bates has something for everyone. In addition to full-time career education and extended learning offerings, the college has programs for those who wish to pursue their General Education Development (GED), learn English or complete their high school diploma.

From 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., Open House attendees can participate in an interactive music presentation, Music from Around the World by Greg Arnold, and enjoy lunch for just $1.50 in the courtyard.
