Firefighters and Police Officers Hoop it Up for Charity

April 11, 2011 By Ben Sclair

LAKEWOOD – The 7th annual Helmets vs. Shields charity basketball game is scheduled for Saturday, April 16th at Pierce College at 6:00 p.m.  Come out and watch West Pierce firefighters and Lakewood Police officers battle on the court to raise money for two great charities.  This year’s event is presented by Forza Coffee.

Tickets for the game will be available at the door for $5.00 each.  Children age five and under are free.  All of the proceeds go to the Life Safety Charity Fund and the Lakewood Officers’ Charity’s Make a Difference Fund.  T-shirts will also be available for purchase at the game for $15 each.

A silent auction and raffle will be held and all of the items have been donated by local businesses.  The silent auction will begin at 5:45 p.m. and raffle tickets will be sold at the game.  Raffle tickets will be $1 each, $5 for 10, $10 for 12, or $20 for 30.

Doors open at 5:00 p.m. and more information about the event and the charities can be found at www.lakewoodcharitybasketball.org.
