Lakewold Gardens: A Magnificent Northwest Garden

April 7, 2011 By Ben Sclair

By Amanda Wood, Marketing Coordinator

LAKEWOOD, WA – Over a year in the making, Lakewold: A Magnificent Northwest Garden, is now available for purchase at Lakewold Gardens. This stunning coffee table style book begins with an introduction by longtime Lakewold docent Ron Fields. Renowned authors, gardeners, and landscape historians grace the book with their own personal essays, giving readers unique insight into the many facets of Lakewold Gardens. The mixture of information, touching on history, Thomas Church, rare plants, the visitor experience, and preservation are interwoven with stunning and inspiring photos of the gardens.

In her review, our garden friend and education partner describes this beautiful addition to any library:

“Before the advent of instant lawns and formulaic landscapes, gardeners created living works of art; Lakewold is one such creation. This collection of tranquil photographs and reflective essays is an affectionate tribute to the horticultural artistry of Eulalie Wagner.” -Linda Chalker-Scott, author of The Informed Gardener and The Informed Gardener Blooms Again

Developed by friends and supporters of the gardens, copies of the book have been generously donated to Lakewold. Available for $50, plus sales tax, all proceeds from the sale of Lakewold: A Magnificent Northwest Garden will be used to support the gardens. Lakewold is now open five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm, and books are available at The Garden Shop or at Lakewold’s Tour office. This beautiful book makes a lovely gift for the garden lover in your life or Mother’s Day. Stop by and pick up your copy today as quantities are limited.
