Communities In Schools of Lakewood Thanks the Community

March 31, 2011 By Ben Sclair

By Dave O’Keeffe

Thanks to the generosity of Lakewood contributors and sponsors, the youth in our community will be the beneficiaries of $25,000 that was raised at the March 23rd Champions for Youth Breakfast, a benefit hosted by Communities in Schools of Lakewood (CISL).

Lakewood Patch wrote about the breakfast. You can read their story here.

CISL appreciates the generous donations of those who attended and the businesses which sponsored the event:  Umpqua Bank, lead sponsor for the event, Mt. View Funeral Home, Harborstone Credit Union, Lakewood Ford, LeMay Enterprises, G. Robb Cooper, Les Schwab Tires, Lakewood First Baptist Church, Columbia Bank, Tacoma Links, Puget Sound Energy, John Korsmo Construction, and KMS Financial Services.

The mission of Communities In Schools of Lakewood is to surround students with a community of support, empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Funds raised from the breakfast will help CISL to impact 1500 students in After-school, Mentor and Readiness To Learn programs.

Lakewood’s Promise Coordinator, Kurt Sample, posted video excerpts of the event at www.lakewoodspromise.us. More information about CISL can be found on their website at www.lakewood.ciswa.org or by calling Dave O’Keeffe at 589-7489.
