LAKEWOOD—Clover Park School District is hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Hudtloff Middle School, Thursday, March 24. Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. behind the school, near the athletic fields (8102 Phillips Road SW in Lakewood.) All community members are invited to attend. Light refreshments will be served in the library immediately following the groundbreaking.
Parking is available on each side of the school and along Phillips Road SW.
The groundbreaking celebration will feature brief comments from Hudtloff, district and community leaders.
“The groundbreaking of the new Hudtloff Middle School represents a promise we made to our community,” said Debbie LeBeau, superintendent of Clover Park School District. “I encourage community members to attend this historic event.”
Thanks to Lakewood-area voters, who approved a $92 million bond in 2010, the new Hudtloff Middle School will be rebuilt behind the existing school, while students remain on site. Bond monies will also be used to build a new elementary school for the consolidated Oakwood and Southgate Elementary Schools; and to build a new Harrison Preparatory Academy in partnership with Clover Park Technical College.
