Grave Concerns Association invites the community to a Silent Auction and Restaurant Takeover Monday, March 21. The event will take place at Joeseppi’s Restaurant, 2207 N. Pearl Street in Tacoma. All funds from the auction and a raffle, as well as a portion of the proceeds for meals purchased at the restaurant during the event will support Grave Concerns. In addition, Modern Woodmen of American will match up to $2500.
Volunteers from Peace Out, Inc. will help with the event. Peace Out is an after school program that inspires teens to become young philanthropists by giving them the experience of raising and donating money to causes that are important to them.
The Grave Concerns Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to restoring the historic Western State Hospital Patient Cemetery. Deteriorated numbered markers are being replaced with engraved stone monuments bearing the name, year of birth (where known) and year of death of each person. The project’s goal is to restore dignity for the deceased patients, their families and anyone whose life has been touched by mental health challenges.
