The French Hen Bistro is back! Well, almost. By the “end of March,” is Edie Rahlfs’ optimistic opinion.
The bistro’s manager/chocolatier extraordinaire was putting final touches on her expanded dining spot on March 14, and she’s eager to welcome back long-time and brand-new customers.
Watch for the “Open” sign outside the Bistro at 3810 Steilacoom Blvd, in Lakewood in a week or so.
Her business hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Monday-Saturday, she says.
Besides her popular salads, sandwiches and desserts, Edie has added a party room, and there’s also an area she’s named “The Chocolate Bar”—for sweet samplings and more.
She has added her unique decorator touches throughout the Bistro, from the party room walls (shades of chocolate, of course) to the regular dining area.
Then there are the restrooms!
Because the original French Hen on Bridgeport always was crowded around lunchtime, reservations for the new location—at 253-983-1313—are strongly encouraged.
And, yes, there are lots more parking spaces available.

I’m so glad to see that Edie is about to reopen. I drive by everyday and am constantly looking to see if she is open yet. The food and service are fantastic! Thanks Nancy for reporting on this. I hope you’ll include an update for all when the French Hen actually opens.

Great news! I have driven by many times and have been so disappointed that The French Hen had closed. Their Italian Wedding soup is the best I’ve ever eaten…. YUMM-O…..
