Kramer named director at HOPE Center

March 3, 2011 By Ben Sclair

Erik Kramer has been hired as Director of the Gary and Carol Milgard Family HOPE Center and the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound Branch. Erik will oversee the daily operations of the Facility as well as The Boys and Girls Clubs programming. The facility is located at 10402 Kline Street SW in Lakewood.  Telephone:  253-502-8600. Read Erik’s background below:

Erik grew up in the small border town of Blaine, WA.  For as long as he can remember sports were always a huge part of his life.  He played football, basketball, baseball and soccer for most of his life.  Along with a passion for sports, he enjoyed learning and getting an education.  After graduating from Blaine High School, Erik decided to attend Pacific Lutheran University, where he would eventually gain a Bachelors Degree in Economics.

Erik began work for the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound in the fall of 2004.  As a college student, he wanted a job that would allow him to enjoy his work along with allowing him to focus on his studies.  He began at the Al Davies Branch where he found exactly what he was looking for.

After three years at Al Davies, Erik had built amazing relationship both with children and with the Al Davies staff.  Upon graduating from PLU, he knew he wanted to continue with the Boys & Girls Clubs and in May of 2007 he accepted a position as a Program Director at the Gonyea Branch.  After six months in this position, Erik was offered a position in the Administrative office, working in the Finance department. Here is where he spent the next three years being exposed to the business side of running a club and honed his skills as a manager. In February 2011, Erik was named the Director for the Gary & Carol Milgard Family HOPE Center.  He feels very privileged to be able to work for an organization that he is passionate about and knows is changing and saving lives.

I am assuming the very first sentence of this article meant to say HIRED rather than FIRED…correct?

Unfortunate typo in the news brief, where it says Mr. Kramer was “fired,” but as the full story above says, he was “hired.”
