Lakewood Baha’is Plan Celebration

February 23, 2011 By Ben Sclair

By Irene Mazer

The Baha’i Faith calendar is 19 months of 19 days each. Do the math: 19 x 19 = 361. In order to stay even with the Gregorian calendar that is universally relied up, we make up the missing days with a year-end celebration of four days (five in Leap Years). We call this time Ayyám-i-Há.

During the Festival of Ayyám-i-Há, Bahá’ís are encouraged to celebrate God and His Oneness by showing love, fellowship and unity. In many instances Bahá’ís give gifts during this time. It is also a time of charity and goodwill and Bahá’ís often participate in various projects of a humanitarian nature.

The Lakewood Bahá’í community is hosting a party on Saturday, February 26, 11:30 to 4:30 p.m., in the Rotunda at Clover Park Technical College. Please come and celebrate with us. For more information, call: 253-472-2424 or visit www.lakewoodwabahais.org/
