The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood. The events for the next four weeks are as follows:
- February 17, 2011 – Update on Construction Project at American Lake VA Medical Center – KC Carlson, Facility Planner, VA Puget Sound Health Care System (Mike Stevenson – MC)
- February 24, 2011 – 100 Best Communities for Young People – How the Youth and Adults of the City are Pulling Together – Kurt Sample, Coordinator, Lakewood Promise (Kristi Roy – MC)
- March 3, 2011 – Welcome Second Online Lakewood/University Place Newspaper (The Patch) – Marques Hunter, Local Editor (John Huber – MC)
- March 10, 2011 – “Sounder Service starts in 2012 – Make Safe Choices around Tracks and Trains” – Carol A. Doering, Sound Transit, Community Outreach Specialist and Hamid Qaasim, Sound Transit, Director of Safety & Quality Assurance (Robin Rego – MC)
The dues for our fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2010, are $20 per year which equates to less than 40 cents every Thursday. This is thanks to our volunteer board. Incidentally, our guest speakers only charge us the cost of a breakfast. You can pay your dues by mail to: Lakewood United, P.O. Box 99785, Lakewood, WA 98496 or directly to our Treasurer, Sue Boguszewski, if she is present at the weekly Thursday morning events.
There is a minimum charge at Burs Restaurant. Please ensure that you at least order a beverage if you attend the meeting.
