Following the Saturday, Feb. 12, grand opening of the new University Place Pierce County Library, the community is invited to continue the celebration of the new library, at 3609 Market Place W., with free events.
Book Signings with Authors – Best-selling authors will sign their books, available for sale by King’s Books. A portion of the proceeds will go to the University Place Library Campaign, which has been raising funds from individuals and organizations to add innovative features and technology to the new library.
- Saturday, Feb. 19, 3 p.m. Mystery writer Mary Daheim has written 27 books in the Bed-and-Breakfast series, and the 22nd book in her Emma Lord series will be published in March.
- Saturday, Feb. 26, 3 p.m. Fantasy author Terry Brooks has published dozens of novels, including three series: Word & Void, Landover, and Shannara.
- Saturday, Feb. 26, 10:30 a.m. Award-winning musician Aaron Nigel Smith will have the whole family dancing and singing along with his fun, inspired and lively show. Music CDs will be available for sale.
Friends of the University Place Library and Pierce County Library Foundation sponsor these free events.
The new 15,000 square foot library, opening on Saturday, Feb. 12, with an opening ceremony and ribbon cutting at 12 p.m. and doors opening to the new library at 12:30 p.m., will offer spaces and places for people to learn, study and connect. The new space is 3,000 square feet larger than the original library.
