Governor Chris Gregoire has directed that Washington State and United States flags at all state agency facilities be lowered to half-staff Tuesday, February 8, 2011, in memory of Washington State Department of Corrections Officer Jayme Biendl of Granite Falls, who was killed January 29 at the Monroe Correctional Complex. Flags should remain at half-staff until close of business Tuesday, or first thing Wednesday morning, February 9. Other government entities, citizens and businesses are encouraged to join this recognition. A memorial service for Officer Biendl is scheduled for Tuesday, February 8 at 1 p.m. at Comcast Arena in Everett.
