Dog Treat Bakery

February 3, 2011 By Ben Sclair

Have you seen this car? Many people have and they think there is a fleet of them. Not so-there is only one.

Cynthia Powell started the business as a fundraiser for the Ft. Steilacoom Dog Park. She makes 15 flavors-Buffalo, lamb, rabbit, duck, chicken, beef, liver, sweet potato, pumpkin, mint, carob, turkey, cheese, Peanut Butter, Venison and she is developing a recipe for cat treats, also.

Powell uses oat flour for dogs allergic to wheat and brown rice flour or bean flour for gluten free eaters. Other ingredients used are sunflower oil, eggs, vitamin E, water and the main ingredient.

Cynthia owns a rescue dog, a beagle named Patsy Cline. However one dog is enough as Patsy is an escape artist. Rather like Marley she has jumped out of a moving car, ran across a stream and a long a freeway in Sequim and knows her way home from the dog park.

The treats are sold at the Farmers Market in the Proctor District and the Steilacoom Market during the summer months. Also at the Posh Paw Dog Boutique located across the street from the Ft. Steilacoom Dog Park. Stop by with your dog for a free sample dog treat.  Located at 8415 Steilacoom SW Lakewood, WA.

Proceeds from the treats sold at the Posh Paw goes to the dog park. Watch for the car in the 4th of July parade in Steilacoom. Contact Powell at (253) 582-1635 or at www.dogtreatbakery.org. She will deliver in the local area.
