All five grant applications pursued by the Refresh UP campaign have been declared finalists in the January Pepsi Refresh Project. This means that pending the completion of paperwork, all five of the grants, totaling $65,000, will be awarded to Refresh UP recipients. This is in addition to the $30,000 in grants that Playground by the Sound was awarded for December.
- Playground by the Sound – $25,000
- Alison Bird on behalf of Playground by the Sound – $5,000
- Pierce County Library Foundation – $25,000
- University Place Volunteer Center – $5,000
- Marie Peterson on behalf of City of University Place Parks and Recreation – $5,000
Only thirty-two grants are awarded each month nationwide. It is a unique success to have five grants awarded in a single month to benefit Pierce County, and University Place in particular. It is estimated that well over 35,000 people made in excess of 150,000 vote entries, and sent perhaps an equally large number of text messages, to vote in support of Refresh UP grants, and in support of those grants pursued by our strategically aligned partners. Three of those partners, Piqua Catholic School, Robert Morris Elementary, and Byron Bergen Middle School, each won $50,000 grants in January.
Refresh UP would like to thank the thousands of supporters that accepted the challenge to vote all three ways each day. Partners too.Print This Post
