Forget the sound of robins warbling in the treetops! A sure sign of spring in Steilacoom is the sighting of Steilacoom High School students hard at work at Perkins Park. On January 27, a sizable group of SHS Honor Society students turned out after school to plant approximately 300 spring bulbs at Perkins Park.
In a few months time, the park will be ablaze with the showy golden daffodils—reminding folks about Wordsworth’s poem about the spring blooms. The local NSH society adopted Perkins Park several years ago as its on-going community service project. In 2010 NHS efforts were honored by Steilacoom’s Mayor Ron Lucas for this community service.
