Pets of the Week

January 13, 2011 By Ben Sclair

Leona

Leona is pretty in pink. This sweet Labrador/ Pit Bull mix is a 1 1/2 year old spayed female. She came to the shelter when her military owner was deployed. Leona loves to have her tummy scratched. She is a bit large for a lap dog, but that doesn’t stop her from jumping on up. Leona would love a home where she can get lots of love. Leona doesn’t seem to mind cats, and would be good with older children. She would love to join a training class and build on her current skill set. She already knows how to ’sit’ and ’lay down’.

Nola

Nola is not your average feline. This curvy kitty is 4 years old. She is a spayed Tortie/Tabby mix with lots of love to share. Nola came to the shelter when her owner had to move. Nola has been around kids, but doesn’t get along with dogs. Nola has a special condition in which she “mows her fur”. Nola chews down the fur on her sides to where it is very short. This isn’t allergy related, it’s just a rare condition. Nola is perfectly healthy, she just needs a diet and someone to love her.

Contact The Humane Society for Tacoma & Pierce County, (253) 383-2733 for more information. You can now see all shelter pets online.
