Some time ago, a right turn arrow was added to the traffic signals at the Bridgeport/Gravelly Lake intersection. When on Bridgeport and turning right onto Gravelly Lake, are you supposed to stop and stay stopped at the red arrow or are you allowed to stop and then take a free right if everything is clear? I’ve noticed some people just wait for the green arrow on the right hand turn and others continue on through the red. There is no sign saying “no right hand turn on red” which suggests it is OK. Could you check with someone about this?
Lieutenant Chris Lawler, Lakewood Police Dept., Public Information Officer responds: If there is not a sign there stating “No turn on red” than a “free right turn” is allowed when traffic is clear and the turning vehicle has come to a complete stop when the red arrow is lit.
