Free craft and history events at DuPont library

People will learn about scrapbooking and local history during free events at DuPont Pierce County Library, 1540 Wilmington Drive.

  • Creative Scrapbooking. Crafters will make a scrapbook page and cards while learning basic techniques with scrapbooking expert Amy Raftery. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Registration required. Sign up on the calendar @ www.piercecountylibrary.org. Friends of the DuPont Library sponsor this free event.

  • Coast Forts: Homeland Security in the Early Pacific Northwest. Participants will explore the fascinating early history of homeland security systems in the Pacific Northwest. Cultural historian William Woodward will share the story of how national defense advocates turned to fixed guns to protect American coasts at the mouth of the Columbia River and Puget Sound. Saturday, Jan. 22, 11 a.m.

Friends of the DuPont Library and Inquiring Mind Speakers Bureau sponsor this free event.
