Do you have time to volunteer at BRIDGES: A Center for Grieving Children? Are you curious about what happens at BRIDGES?
Facilitating a group at BRIDGES is rewarding and life affirming. Despite the name, lots of happy moments happen here. Children meet others like them and adults find support from other parents. After a parent or sibling death in the family, it can be very difficult to communicate and adjust. Families attend twice monthly support groups at BRIDGES for as long as they need. The groups are facilitated by ordinary people with kind hearts – no need to be an expert on grief or on group facilitation.
New Facilitator Training begins Jan. 28 from 5:30 – 8pm. Then training occurs on the following Saturdays from 9am – 4pm: Jan. 29, Feb. 5, Feb. 12, Feb. 26 and March 5th. The training totals 32 hours and covers facilitating play, communication, grief and loss, the unique grief of children and teens, session planning and much more.
After completing training, new volunteers are invited to be part of our last four 4 groups of the year to observe before co-facilitating with an experienced volunteer, starting in September 2011 and continuing twice a month through May 2012.
