January – National Mentoring Month – is almost here. Public service announcements will be played on TV, radio and on the internet – many from celebrities and sports figures encouraging us all to be mentors.
In Lakewood, we have numerous opportunities to make differences in children’s lives. As a city we are known for collaborating and delivering needed help to youth and families. January is an awesome time for adults to look at their schedules and make adjustments to see where mentoring a kid will fit in. You can find some opportunities HERE.
In 1997, Fred Rogers (of Mister Rogers Neighborhood) was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award for daytime television. His “take 10 seconds” to remember those who mentored you can be an amazing journey. Please check out this short video from his speech…Print This Post
