Effective Jan. 1, 2011, customers seeking a new connection to the Pierce County sewer system will pay a simplified connection charge. Existing customers will not be affected by the change.
To simplify connection charges, Public Works and Utilities combined area, frontage, and facility fees into a flat-fee basin charge. The new basin charge will simplify costs of connection to the sewer system for the developer and single family homeowner and will be updated annually to reflect current costs.
The Sewer Utility maintains 668 miles of sewer lines, 94 pump stations, and 15,403 manholes and cleanouts. These sewer lines lead to the Chambers Creek Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant, which processes 18.7 million gallons of wastewater daily.
