Dotty Vowell Jackl of the University Place Lions Club invited Bridgeport Place to participate in a community effort to gather groceries for holiday food baskets. Needy families in University Place were selected to receive the gifts.
Joye Bucklin of the Lions Club picked up a carload of groceries from Bridgeport Place on December 18. Eleven families’ needs were met in November in time for Thanksgiving, as well.
Bridgeport Place is also a year-round drop-off location for eyeglasses, which the Lions recycle for those in need. A substantial collection of eyewear was sent with Bucklin when she transported the holiday foods back to their meeting site where the gifts would be packed for distribution to those in need.
