Members of the Lakewood Rotary Club, spouses and other family members converged on Saar’s Food Market before 7 am Saturday and put together 100 food baskets which they later distributed to families in the Lakewood area, including Joint Base Lewis McChord. About 80 to 100 Rotarians and family members participated in the annual project. Following the efforts of putting together the food they moved over to Carr’s Restaurant for a buffet breakfast before heading out to deliver the food baskets. Funds raised by club members covered the cost of the food baskets, each of which included a turkey and ham as well as potatoes, fruit, eggs, milk, butter and a selection of canned or otherwise packaged foods. Lakewood Rotary Club has been raising funds for the food distribution annually for many years.
