Twelve educators earned the honor of national board certification after spending more than a year undergoing a series of rigorous performance-based assessments and producing a portfolio of student work from their classrooms, demonstrating how their students achieved based on the professional teaching standards. 2010 Nationally Board Certified Teachers are:
Clover Park High School
- Travis Campbell: Library Media/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood
- Hope Teague: English Language Arts/Adolescence and Young Adulthood
Custer Elementary School
- Christina Merritt: Generalist/Middle Childhood
- Sharon Molten: Generalist/Early Childhood
Custer/Dower Elementary Schools
- Rebecca (Liz) Campeau: School Counseling/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood
Dower Elementary School
- Kathleen Schwartze: Literacy: Reading-Language Arts/Early and Middle Childhood
- Alison Uuereb: Art/Early and Middle Childhood
Hillside Elementary School
- Desiree Sumers: Generalist/Early Childhood
Lakes High School
- William Niva: English Language Arts/Adolescence and Young Adulthood
- Sarah Robbert: Mathematics/Early Adolescence
Oakbrook Elementary School
- Jennifer Lashells: School Counseling/Early Childhood through Young Adulthood
Washington Education Association/Clover Park Education Association
- Samuel Fitzgerald: Generalist/Middle Childhood
Clover Park School District now has 89 Nationally Board Certified teachers. Overall, 10.5 percent of all teachers and counselors in the district are National Board Certified. Early next year, the newest certified teachers will be honored at a reception at the district’s Student Services Center.
