Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash. – The 17th Fires Brigade will conduct a Change of Command at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 8. Col. Steven Bullimore will relinquish command to Col. Kenneth L. Kamper in a Change of Command Ceremony on Watkins Parade Field on JBLM Lewis-Main.
Bullimore commanded the Task Force Thunderbolt during the brigade’s 12-month deployment to Iraq. Previously, he served Assistant and Deputy Fire Support Coordinator for the 4th Infantry Division at Fort Carson, Colorado; Current Operations Officer and Director of Exercises and Training (J-7) for Joint Task Civil Support, Fort Monroe, Va., and commander of the 1st Battalion, 6th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division in Bamberg, Germany, including a 2004-2005 Iraq deployment. Upon relinquishing command, he will serve as the I Corps Fire Support Coordinator.
Kamper is currently serving as the I Corps Fire Support Coordinator, after serving two years as a Human Resource Manager in the Colonels Management Office in the Army’s Senior Leader Division. Prior to that, he served several assignments at then-Fort Lewis, including commander of the 1st Battalion, 37th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, including the unit’s deployment to Iraq in 2006-2007; Aide-de-Camp to the I Corps Commanding General; and Battalion Operations Officer and Executive Officer for 2ndBattalion, 8th
Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Brigade, 25th Infantry Division, including the brigade’s 2004-2005 Iraq deployment.
