Steilacoom weekly update, Dec. 3

Upcoming Meetings:

  • Parks Task Force – December 16, 2010 at 6:30 PM at Town Hall in the Map Room.

Council Future Agenda “Look-Ahead” Issues:

Copies of the Agenda and staff reports are available at all Town facilities once published.

Future Topics – Policy Related:

Public Safety:

Fallen Officer Memorial:

The Mayor, Chief Schaub, and PSO Recruit Webb attended the Lakewood Fallen Officer Memorial on Monday.

Staffing:

PSO Recruit Christina Webb started this week. She will start at the Police Academy next week.

Public Works:

Christmas Tree:

Staff assisted by the 42nd MP Brigade and Lakeview Power and Light picked-up, delivered, and decorated the Christmas tree. The Electric Crew also put up the Christmas lights on the buildings in preparation for Holiday at Town Hall.

Street and Storm Water Utility Crew:

This week was all about cleaning up after the storms including and not limited to street sweeping to remove the 100 cubic yards put down as part of the snow and ice response. This effort will continue through next week.

Electric Crew:

The Electric Crew focused on delivery, set-up, and decorating the Christmas Tree. They also installed a temporary service, responded to a wayside horn issue, and performed streetlight maintenance.

Water and Sewer Crew:

The Crew assisted the other crews on various projects and repaired a broken water service in the Steilacoom Gardens apartments. Next week, they will continue system maintenance activities.

Buildings and Grounds:

The Crew performed the annual fire extinguisher testing and cleaned up debris in the parks and on other Town-owned properties. Additionally, they assisted in setting up Town Hall for the Holiday at Town Hall and Christmas Tree Lighting festival this evening.
