The Lord must have needed a tall forward as he recruited Chad J. Moon to join his team on their current road trip. Chad left us on November 26, 2010, to play on the Lord’s team after losing his battle with cancer (melanoma). Chad was born in Berlin, Germany, on June 10, 1976, and moved to the Lakewood area in 1981. Chad attended local schools, graduated from Lakes High School, Pierce College with his AS and graduated Cum Laude and received his BS from St. Martin’s College. The “kid” part of Chad made his work with youngsters a natural. He worked for several years at the Lakewood YMCA and followed with a career at various schools in the Clover Park School District. Chad was repeatedly praised for his ability to connect with the younger set and was a favorite with the children he coached, mentored, and taught. He was their mentor, their friend, and their brother. Chad was the consummate basketball fan. When he was not playing, he was watching basketball and knew nearly every player on every team. Michael Jordan never had a bigger fan nor did Nike have a better customer. Chad had a genuine concern for the less fortunate and was always looking for ways to help those needing a helping hand. Chad is survived by his mother Connie Coleman-Lacadie and her husband Michael Lacadie, his father Gary Moon, his brother G.E. Moon II and wife Wendy, his fiancée Stephanie Ware and her son Tyler and Chad and Stephanie’s daughter Cherish Moon. We would like to especially thank Charlene Richardson and Earl Evans who were always there to support Chad. A special thanks to the staff and volunteers at Franciscan Hospice House for their compassionate and wonderful care. Contributions to either the local Franciscan Hospice House or Seattle Cancer Care Alliance in Chad’s name would be appreciated.
