The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood. The events for the next four weeks are as follows:
- December 2, 2010 – Building Houses at the Top of the World – Habitat for Humanity – Kathleen Merryman, News Tribune Columnist (Kristi Roy – MC)
- December 9, 2010 – “A Brief Overview of the Port’s role in Our Local, State and National Economy – Competitive Challenges Facing the Industry and the International Marketplace” – Connie Bacon, Port Commissioner (John Huber – MC)
- December 16, 2010 – Proposed County Parks Taxing District – Pierce County Council’s Resolution No. R2010-102 that suggests the Development of a New Unincorporated Park District – Kathryn Kravit-Smith, Director, Pierce County Parks & Recreation Services (Evelyn Kelly – MC)
The dues for our fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2010, are $20 per year which equates to less than 40 cents every Thursday. This is thanks to our volunteer board. Incidentally, our guest speakers only charge us the cost of a breakfast. You can pay your dues by mail to: Lakewood United, P.O. Box 99785, Lakewood, WA 98496 or directly to our Treasurer, Sue Boguszewski, if she is present at the weekly Thursday morning events.
