Bring your old watches and clocks to the Steilacoom Museum (253-584-9410) on Saturday, November 20. Experts and members of the Mount Rainier Chapter of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors will be there to appraise your timepieces and give you information about them. The charge is $3 per item, limit of three. The appraisals will take place from 1-4 pm at the museum located at 1801 Rainier Street in Steilacoom.
Also this weekend is the last time to visit the 1854 Nathaniel Orr Home decorated for the holidays. Christmas at the Orr Home is open 10 am-4 pm on Saturday and 12-4 pm on Sunday. The home radiates holiday cheer. Each room is decorated to a theme of “Time for Christmas” and antique timepieces and vintage clothing are featured items. Live music will get you into the holiday mood as well. General admission is $7.50 and SHMA members fee is $6.00.
The Museum Holiday Shop will be open each weekend through December 5 with beautiful holiday items, ornaments, gifts, toys and books. Uniquely Steilacoom items will be available including mugs, books, cards, aprons, hats and Secret Salmon Sauce. One of the most popular items is the new 2011 calendar which sells for $12 each or, with the purchase of three or more, $10 each. Jewelry by ‘My Mother’s Buttons” is featured with bracelets, rings, earrings and wonderful necklaces that are one of a kind. Each piece is designed with vintage buttons and other antique items. Many more items will intrigue you, so come visit and do your shopping locally. All purchases benefit the Steilacoom Historical Museum.
