The windstorm that hit the region hard Monday night caused serious damage to Tacoma Power’s electrical system. Although crews have worked all night, about 30,000 homes and businesses still do not have power Tuesday morning. The outages are spread throughout Tacoma Power’s service territory. Crews have restored the utility’s transmission line outages and will now focus on restoring power to schools. Anyone who comes across a downed power line should stay as far away as possible, and call (253) 502-8602 to report it. Tacoma Power customers who have not already reported their power outage should call (253) 502-8602 to do so.
