By Valorie Tresner, Campaign Manager, Committee to Elect Paul Wagemann
Main Street Matters (Main Street Matters PAC, P.O. Box 1909, Olympia, WA 98507) on October 26, published an online story stating the following, “A state Public Disclosure Commission investigation uncovered unseemly, if not illegal, tactics used by far-left campaign consultants and their big-money backers who are conspiring to defeat fiscally conservative candidates like Paul Wagemann” … “Democrat Tami Green has been the beneficiary of Moxie Media’s efforts here in the 28th Legislative District State House Campaign.”… “Candidates who are benefiting from Moxie’s scheme should be called upon to denounce such tactics and return any campaign contributions received from groups affiliated with them.”
The Paul Wagemann Campaign was hit with two very expensive malicious and deceitful, mail pieces done by Moxie Media under the guise of “STRIDE PAC.”
STRIDE PAC was formed at the end of September specifically to support Tami Green and oppose Paul Wagemann. Lisa MacLean and Henry Underhill co-chairs. They list a total of about $36,000 in in-kind contributions from “researchers” and direct mailers. This is listed as a liability so that the sources of the funds do not have to be disclosed.
On October 14, $1,650 came from MOVE PAC to fund STRIDE PAC. There was an additional funding of $69,000 from MOVE PAC a few days later. MOVE PAC’s money seems to be coming from unions, especially SEIU.
MOVE PAC registered as a single year PAC with the PDC on September 14, with a stated purpose of supporting Green and opposing Wagemann. MOVE PAC principals are: Lisa MacLean and Henry Underhill.
Lisa was called by the PDC to a formal hearing today to answer for her malicious tactics and probable illegal activities in not only this campaign, but many others across this State and others. Lisa, her company and employees who knowingly publish untruths for huge sums of money should be held accountable, but those who hire her knowing that she will set up these sleaze campaigns and do everything in her power to obfuscate those funding these campaign should also be held accountable.
Let’s call Tami to task on this unseemly attack on Paul Wagemann. Tami, please come forward and apologize to the voters of the 28th Legislative District and the voters of the State of Washington and return any campaign contributions or in-kind contributions received from Moxie Media. It is the right thing to do.
