Terri Baker, President, Tacoma-Pierce County League of Women Voters
I just filled out my ballot and once again I was glad to be a member of the League of Women Voters. I whizzed through the ballot issues with no problem, chose my federal and state elected officials and only had to open the voter’s guide when it came to the judges. Since I had to walk through each of the ballot issues with my mother and husband, I felt good that I was well informed and sad because I know the average voter is going to have trouble. I fear people will just leave them blank rather than read the voter’s guide. Rarely has one round of ballot issues had the potential for such a profound impact on the state budget. Please read the state, county and TNT guide. If you need more, watch our forums on TVW and read about the issues at www.lwvwa.org. The 100th anniversary of women’s right to vote in Washington state is in November.
Celebrate it by actually voting.
