Joan E. (Taylor) Cushnyr was born in Tacoma, on June 6, 1918. She attended Lincoln H.S., graduating in 1935. She worked at the Civilian Personnel office at McChord AFB for 35 years, where she met her husband of 50 years, Raymond. They were blessed with 2 sons, Gerald of Tacoma and Jeffrey of Olalla. They were members of The Day Island Yacht Club, where Raymond was Commodore. They were also members of the Tacoma Elks ClubE#174. She lived a wonderful long life filled with love, laughter and friends. She enjoyed traveling the U.S. to visit family. Graveside services will be held October 13, 2010, 1:30 at Mt. Hazel Fisher Hanson 1923 – 2010 Hazel Fisher Hanson, beloved wife and mother, is survived by John Duval Hanson, Lt. Col. USAF. She was the mother of twelve children, and is survived by six children, twelve grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Hazel traveled the world as a military wife. She loved gardening, sewing, painting, and especially her husband and family. We will love and miss her forever. Fred Russell Johns Age 94, went to be with the Lord on October 8, 2010. He was born in Seattle March 13, 1916, and worked 37 years at the ASARCO plant in Ruston. He was a longtime member of Faith Presbyterian Church. Fred is survived by Leona Haskell Johns, his wife of 69 years, a son, Mark Haskell Johns, of Tacoma, daughter and son-in-law Pamela and Ken Andrews of Bellevue, grandchildren John Andrews of Renton and Stephanie Gramann of Park City, UT, and great-granddaughters Marie Andrews and Adley Gramann. Patrick Gordon Moon Known to most as “Pat”, died at the Seattle Veteran’s Hospital on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the age of 58 due to complications from cancer. Pat was born August 6, 1952 in Hawthorne, California to Peggy and Gordon Moon. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, after which he worked for Amtrak. Pat found his niche as a barber, and for seventeen years has been a fixture in the town of Steilacoom. He often spoke of his love and appreciation for the people of Steilacoom, how much he enjoyed his work as a barber, and his many customers. He is survived by his wife Rena Moon, and his stepchildren Jessica Leon-Guerrero, Kyle, Amber, Corey, and Joshua Upton, his own daughters, Megan Moon and Katlin Moon; his mother Peggy Moon; his sisters Linda Westfall and Sr. Marsha Moon, RSC; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. A memorial service will be held at Oberlin Congregational Church in Steilacoom at 1pm on Wednesday, October 13, 2010, Pastor Braun presiding. Patrick’s family are all most appreciative of the love, care, and efforts of the team at the Seattle Veteran’s Hospital and the outreach from the Steilacoom police department and the people of Steilacoom.
