Lakewood United upcoming speaker schedule

October 12, 2010 By Ben Sclair

The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood. The events for the next four weeks are as follows:

  • October 14, 2010 – New Federal Healthcare Plan – Its Benefits and Costs – Speakers TBD (Kris Kauffman – MC)
  • October 21, 2010 – “Washington Rocks: A Story about A Little-Known yet Highly Beneficial State Resource” – Pete Stoltz, CalPortland, Permitting and Government Affairs Manager (Mary Ann Miller – MC)
  • October 28, 2010 – “High Speed Rail Coming to Lakewood” – Engaging the community about the Point Defiance Bypass project – WSDOT High Speed Rail Program Manager, Ron Pate and Program Delivery Manager, David Smelser (Ernie Heller – MC)
  • November 4, 2010 – “The Impact of the Recession on Public Transportation” – Lind Simonsen, Pierce Transit Community Relations (Sue Boguszewski – MC)

The dues for our fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2010, are $20 per year which equates to less than 40 cents every Thursday. This is thanks to our volunteer board. Incidentally, our guest speakers only charge us the cost of a breakfast. You can pay your dues by mail to: Lakewood United, P.O. Box 99785, Lakewood, WA 98496 or directly to our Treasurer, Sue Boguszewski, if she is present at the weekly Thursday morning events.

If you wish to make suggestions for future topics or speakers, please contact any of our board members, Sue Boguszewski, Ernest Heller, John Huber, Kris Kauffman, Evelyn Kelly, Andrea Litton, Pamela Maddess, Mary Ann Miller, Kristi Roy, Mike Stevenson or Robin Rego.

For those of you who are only receiving this notice as a handout at the weekly meetings and would like to get it by email, please contact me at rarego@lakeviewlight.com.

    Questions:

Can the general public (such as me) attend a presentation?

Can Steilacoom residents join Lakewood United?
