Today's Clover Park Technical College featured an airport in 1922 when Rudy Mueller and Leo Harkins acquired the defunct Tacoma Speedway and opened a flying service at the site. In 1927 it became the Tacoma Municipal Airport with trimotor airline service. The site was recognized with the plaque created by the Lakewood Historical Society in 2002. The marker is located on the west wall of the Mueller-Harkins hangar which is located next to Steilacoom Boulevard on the CPTC campus. The marker includes additional information about the race course. The Lakewood History Museum, 6211 Mt. Tacoma Dr SW in Lakewood, features considerable information on the racetrack. The museum is open Wednesday through Saturday, noon to 4 pm.
