The Lakewood United group meets at 7 AM every Thursday at Burs Restaurant, which is located at 6151 Steilacoom Boulevard SW in Lakewood. The events for the next four weeks are as follows:
- February 18, 2010 – Hospice — Care Near the End of Life (become more acquainted with Hospice services, how and where, financial obligations, role of the family and graduation from Hospice) – Bob Riler, Pierce County Aging, Long Term Care and Disability Resource Center (Pamela Maddess – MC)
- February 25, 2010 – How CPAs Are Regulated – Tom Sadler, Former Chair, National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (Mike Stevenson – MC)
- March 4, 2010 – The Critical Importance of Improving Americans’ Civic Literacy – Jon Hill, Employee Benefits Advisor (Kristi Roy – MC)
- (Tentative) March 11, 2010 – Legislature Update – Peter Callaghan, News Tribune Columnist (Robin Rego – MC)
The dues for our fiscal year, which started on July 1, 2009 are $20 per year which equates to less than 40 cents every Thursday. This is thanks to our volunteer board. Incidentally, our guest speakers only charge us the cost of a breakfast. You can pay your dues by mail to: Lakewood United, P.O. Box 99785, Lakewood, WA 98496 or directly to our Treasurer, Sue Boguszewski, if she is present at the weekly Thursday morning events.
