Thanks for your vote

February 14, 2010 By Nancy Covert

With passage of the Maintenance and Operations levy, Steilacoom Historical School District No 1 has taken a critical step in funding maintenance and operations in the school district for the next four years—thanks to Steilacoom School District’s supportive voters in this recent election.

Concerned Citizens for Steilacoom School District committee members say ‘Thank you.’

While the official tally won’t be in for a few days, by 8 p.m. on Feb. 9, the County Auditor’s report showed that 69 percent of those who voted approved a continuation of the current levy funding for operations, maintenance and materials.

Despite present economic conditions, this percentage reflected voters’ continued belief and support for providing our kids the best education possible.

“We’re relieved, and our students and teachers are grateful to those who voted to provide the children in our District with the best education in the safest environment possible,” said Lenore Rogers, chairman of the local levy campaign committee.
