Road projects can only mean Spring is around the corner! Some of our current projects include:
- Bridgeport Way (between Cirque and 54th). You may have noticed road crews are installing irrigation, landscaping and street signals along Bridgeport Way. If the weather cooperates, the crews will start working on road striping within the next few weeks with final completion scheduled for this Spring.
- Bridgeport Way (35th to 37th). The creation of a new left turn and signal leading into Market court will result in temporary lane closures over the next three weeks between 35th and 37th Street along Bridgeport Way. The new left turn lane required a “lane shift” which meant the medians had to be redone as well. Crews are also working on irrigation, electricity and landscaping for the project which should be completed by Spring.
Progress on the future Library/City Hall is coming along nicely. This month we began applying the exterior finishes to the building. The major electrical and mechanical work is also underway along with the first elevator being scheduled for installation in late February. Free hardhat tours of the site are available by calling Diana Neufeld at 460-2526.
70th Avenue – New sidewalks and streetlights are being installed on the west side of the street in this project which is funded by a Community Development Block Grant.
Fees & Charges Discussion
Our Economic Development Commission along with a group of stakeholders (including representatives from Master Builders Association), is examining fee and rate increases for various building projects. Discussions will center around issues such as the city’s ability to recover the cost of processing permits and inspections while balancing the need for economic development. For more information, contact David Swindale at 460-2519.
